📞 Call (647) 677-0037Mississauga's tap water comes from Lake Ontario, drawn through intakes up to two kilometres offshore and treated at Peel Region's Arthur P. Kennedy and Lorne Park plants. Peel's 2025 report measures its hardness at 120 to 130 mg/L and calls it moderately hard. A tankless heater warms water inside a narrow heat exchanger, so that hardness matters: Navien's manual calls for a softener or scale protection, or a yearly flush of the heat exchanger when neither is fitted. Rented units get that flush at the yearly visit, and a Chlor-A-Soft softener stops the scale at the source.

A gas tankless heater needs an outside wall for its intake and exhaust pipes, plus a gas line, so it suits houses and most townhouses well. It frees the floor space a tank takes up, which helps in a cramped townhouse utility room. Most high-rise suites have no gas supply and no outside wall we can vent through, so tankless is rarely an option there.
If your current tank is rented from another company, going tankless means ending that rental. Ask the provider, in writing, what you owe to return or buy out the tank. We install your tankless heater, disconnect the old tank and return it to the provider for you. Any buyout or removal fee is theirs, not ours. How switching works.
In a long two-storey house, or one with an ensuite at the far end, hot water can take a while to reach the tap. The Navien A2, Rinnai RXP and Kepler models in the table above add recirculation, which keeps hot water moving toward the far fixtures so it arrives sooner. For most townhouses and semis, a standard S2 or RX model is enough.
