Peel Region measures Brampton's water at 7.0 to 7.6 grains per gallon. Minerals build up inside a tankless heat exchanger, and Navien's installation manual recommends a water softener or scale treatment for water like this, or flushing the heat exchanger once a year when no treatment is installed. The same manual says damage caused by poor water quality is not covered under warranty. We flush and descale Navien units, and a water softener cuts the build-up at the source.

Tankless repairs vary with the fault and the part, so we price them after diagnosis and agree the price with you before any work starts. Prices are before HST.
Recirculation keeps hot water close to the taps so it arrives sooner. On an NPE-A2 the pump is built in, and ComfortFlow recirculation can be switched on in the settings; Navien's manual notes that energy use goes up when it is. An NPE-S2 can recirculate with an external pump. Both series have a built-in HotButton controller: with the push button kit, sold separately, recirculation runs only when someone presses a button, instead of on a schedule all day. If hot water has started taking longer to arrive, we check the recirculation settings, timer and pump, along with scale in the heat exchanger.
A Navien shuts itself down and shows a code when one of its safety devices trips, so a code points to what the unit sensed, not always the part that failed. The NPE-2 series lists these safety devices:
