Buying a comparable furnace starts at $3,222 installed, but after the warranty, repairs and yearly maintenance are yours to pay. Renting costs more over a long stay and buys you predictable bills. Buying costs less if you stay for many years and can absorb a repair bill. If you rent and later change your mind, you can buy the furnace at any time, and the price drops the longer you have rented.
