An air conditioner that quits in a Toronto July rarely waits for a convenient day. We repair central air, ductless units and heat pumps of any brand on houses, semis and row homes across the city.
Typical ranges, not quotes, plus HST. We agree your price before the repair starts.
📞 Call (647) 677-0037Semis and row houses are 12% of Toronto's homes, and on these lots the outdoor unit often sits in a narrow side yard, under a deck or against a fence. Starved of air, it runs hot, trips on its high-pressure switch and wears out its capacitor and fan motor early. Part of every repair here is checking that the unit can breathe, and telling you if moving it would stop the fault from coming back.

58% of Toronto's homes date from 1980 or earlier, and many of those houses had central air added long after they were built. The cooling coil sits on a furnace whose ducts were laid out for heat, so the top floor often gets too little cold air and has few returns to pull warm air back. Before we blame the air conditioner, we check its charge and coil, then measure airflow in the upper rooms and tell you whether the fix is a repair, a blower setting, or a ductless head for the hottest room.

The install date is printed on the outdoor unit's nameplate. It tells you, and us, how much a repair is worth:
| Unit installed | Usual advice |
|---|---|
| Within the last 10 years | Repair it, and check the manufacturer's parts warranty first |
| About 10 to 15 years ago | Repair most faults; a failed compressor is the point to price a replacement |
| Before 2010 | Probably R-22 refrigerant, now costly: compare a new unit before a major repair |
In a house split into a main unit and a basement suite, one air conditioner often cools both, so a breakdown affects two households. Condo townhouses usually have their own condenser on a patio, balcony or roof deck, where access and the corporation's rules decide how we work. In a high-rise suite, cooling normally comes from the building, so start with the property manager.
| Cooling service | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Usual AC repair, parts and labour | $350 to $950 |
| Ductless or heat pump repair | $400 to $1,200 |
| Annual AC tune-up | $150 to $250 |
| AC rented from GT | $0, the plan covers it |
Before HST and the same as in Brampton. A compressor or a major leak on an older unit can cost more, and you hear that before we start.
Since June 1, 2026, Chapter 497 of the Toronto Municipal Code has covered cooling as well as heat. Where a property already has air conditioning, the owner, operator or landlord must run it from June 1 to September 30 to keep the indoor temperature at 26°C or below. With 48% of Toronto households renting, a broken air conditioner in a rented house or suite is now a by-law problem as well as a comfort one. Tenants should report it to the landlord first; landlords can call us at any hour.

Spending big on an R-22 air conditioner seldom makes sense. Replacement central air starts at $4,000 installed, and renting costs $44.95 a month with repairs included. See AC installation in Toronto, or a heat pump that heats as well.
Third-floor bedrooms, attic conversions, rear additions and basement suites are often out of reach of the main ducts. A single ductless head cools and heats that space on its own. Ductless systems cost from $2,800 installed; see ductless mini-splits.
