Warm air from the vents, iced-up lines or an outdoor unit that will not start: we repair central air conditioners, heat pumps and mini-splits across Vaughan, any brand, at a price you agree to first.
Typical ranges, not quotes, plus HST. We agree your price before the repair starts.
📞 Call (647) 677-0037With 63% of Vaughan homes single-detached, a common summer complaint here is not a dead air conditioner but a hot top floor. In a two-storey house, cool air sinks, the thermostat sits on the main floor, and the upstairs returns are often small. We check the refrigerant charge and the coil first, then the airflow on each floor, and explain whether you need a repair, a fan or damper change, or a ductless head for one room.

30% of Vaughan homes went up between 2001 and 2010. If yours still has the air conditioner it was built with, that unit is well past the 12 to 15 years a central AC usually gives, and it probably runs on R-22, a refrigerant that has become expensive to top up. Find the install year on the outdoor unit's label, then use this as a guide:
| Installed | What we usually recommend |
|---|---|
| 2016 or later | Repair, and check whether the part is still under warranty |
| 2010 to 2015 | Repair in most cases; most of these use the newer R-410A refrigerant |
| Before 2010 | Likely R-22: get a replacement price before any major repair |

Row houses are 11% of Vaughan's homes, and towers of five or more storeys another 13%. In a townhouse the condenser may sit on a balcony, a roof deck or a narrow side yard, where poor airflow overheats the compressor, so we check its clearance as part of the repair. In a tower suite, cooling usually comes from equipment tied to the building: if the whole floor is warm, call the property manager first.

Vaughan's Vital Services By-law covers cooling as well as heat. From May 16 to September 14, landlords must keep rented units at 26°C or cooler, or give the tenant a way to keep them there, and multi-residential buildings without cooling must offer a cooling room. When a rented home's AC fails, the tenant's first call is to the landlord, and the landlord's can be to us, day or night.

A large repair on an old R-22 unit rarely pays back. A new central AC costs from $4,000 installed, or rents for $44.95 a month with repairs included. See air conditioner installation, or compare a heat pump, which also heats.
Bonus rooms over a garage, converted attics and basement suites are hard to cool from the main ductwork. A single ductless head gives that room its own cooling and heating without touching the rest of the system. Ductless mini-splits start at $2,800 installed.
