A third of Hamilton homes were built before 1961, and their furnaces sit in basements with a lot of history: old chimneys, rebuilt ducts and decades of gas line changes. We find the fault and agree the price with you before we fix it.

About a third of Hamilton households (34%) rent. The City's Vital Services By-law requires landlords to keep rental units at 20°C or warmer from September 15 to May 15, measured 1.5 metres above the floor, and says auxiliary heaters cannot be the main source of heat. A failed furnace in a rented house or a basement apartment needs a real repair, not a space heater. Tenants: tell your landlord first. Landlords and property managers: call us to book.

If the furnace is past 15 years and the problem is its heat exchanger or control board, or it keeps failing, a new furnace is usually the better spend, and we price both. New furnaces start at $3,222 installed, or $43.99 a month to rent, and same-day installation is available on many jobs. See furnace installation in Hamilton.
In Carlisle, Freelton and Greensville, the City's typical well-water hardness runs from 360 to 500 mg/L. A furnace humidifier on that water scales up within a season: change the pad every fall and keep an eye on the drain line.
