Lennox is the gold standard for residential furnaces in Canada. Their ML196, ML296, and EL297 models are consistently reliable, energy-efficient, and backed by one of the strongest warranties in the industry. Lennox parts are widely available across Ontario which means faster, cheaper repairs if anything ever goes wrong.

Midea has become one of the fastest growing HVAC brands in Canada — and for good reason. Their MGV96 dual-stage furnace delivers the same 96% AFUE efficiency as Lennox's ML296, at a significantly lower price point. Midea is a massive global manufacturer that also makes components for many other brands.

Goodman is one of the most popular budget furnace brands in Canada. Owned by Daikin, Goodman offers solid efficiency at a lower price. The downside is build quality — Goodman units tend to require more repairs in years 8-12 compared to Lennox or Midea. They're a good choice if upfront cost is the priority.

Carrier is Lennox's main competitor at the premium end. Their Infinity series modulating furnace is excellent, but priced higher than Lennox for comparable performance. Carrier is a great brand — we just prefer Lennox's dealer network and parts availability in the GTA specifically.
Both are reliable mid-range brands popular across Ontario. Keeprite is Canadian-designed and well-suited for cold climates. Trane has a strong reputation for durability. Neither quite matches Lennox for premium performance but both are solid choices.

Honestly — not as much as people think. A poorly installed premium Lennox will underperform a properly installed mid-range unit. The brand matters, but the installer matters just as much.
Always choose a TSSA-certified installer who sizes the furnace correctly for your home's square footage. An oversized or undersized furnace — regardless of brand — will cause problems.
